Geranium Essential Oil Profile


Geranium essential oilBotanical Name : Pelargonium Graveolens

Family : Geraniaceae

Synonyms : Rose Geranium, Pelargonium

Safety Data : Non-toxic, Non-irritant, Non-sensitizing, Possibly contact dermatitis in hypersensitive individuals

Extraction : Steam distillation from the leaves, stalks and flowers.

Herbal/Folk Tradition
Geranium essential oil has been used since antiquity for conditions such as dysentery, hemorrhoids, inflammations, metrorrhagia and menorrhagia.

Characteristics Of Geranium Essential Oil

  • The Bourbon oil is a greenish-olive, with a rosy-sweet, minty scent
  • Blends well with most essential oils, especially lavender, patchouli, clove, rose, orange blossom, sandalwood, jasmine, juniper and bergamot
  • It is a a preferred oil in perfumery work
