I was thinking of buying my mother an essential oil for her to try and see if she likes aromatherapy , she has never used an oil so i want to buy her an easy one to use with lots of benefits...im thinking lavender ....

Lavender is a good all-rounder. It would help if she enjoys the fragrance too.
What about a lovely sweet floral such as Ylang Ylang? It is lovely to burn and blends well with other oils too. Plus it is relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other florals.

Lavender is commonly used in the preparation of perfume. In aromatherapy, lavender oil is used to aid in relaxation. When breathed in as a vapor, lavender has been known to relieve tension headaches, coughs and respiratory infections.
